A new Skywire version has been released. The latest version of the Skywire software includes a user interface for decentralized VPN service, among other enhancements. Skywire version 0.5.0 is available to install beginning today.

Skywire 0.5.0 includes:

A user interface for the decentralized VPN, with advanced statistics, server selection and more
Multi-hop VPN is easy to set up within the new UI
An updated connection library, with transports automatically established by Skywire
Improved network performance and a reduction in the minimum requirements for the machine running the software

Users who choose to run public visors on Skywire may be entitled to additional monthly rewards in the future. Users may also choose to serve the Skywire VPN network as data relays. Updates to the rewards structure will be announced in the coming month.

Skywire Performance Update Released

Recently, Skycoin completed a number of performance upgrades for Skywire, which have resulted in improved performance and optimized network usage of visors on the Skywire network. These upgrades were undertaken to improve reliability for Skywire users, and to stabilize the production deployment.

To take advantage of these upgrades, Skyminer operators are encouraged to migrate to the new system over the next month. After this one-month grace period, unmigrated skyminers will be ineligible to receive rewards until they have completed the upgrade.

Skycoin Updates Skywire and Releases New VPN

Version 0.4.1 of Skywire, the Skycoin Project’s decentralized networking protocol, is being released with new features and bugfixes to make Skywire better than ever. The new update patches several known issues with version 0.3.0, includes a number of stability enhancements and performance improvements, and includes long-awaited improvements of the Skywire VPN.

The Skywire VPN leverages the unique network infrastructure of Skywire to provide a truly secure and anonymous VPN for users.

Skycoin Launches Skywire Mainnet

Shanghai, China —After two years of active development, the Skycoin Project is pleased to announce the launch of the Skywire Mainnet, a significant milestone and a crucial step toward realizing Skycoin’s vision of a truly secure and decentralized Internet.

Version 1 of the Coin Hour Bank allows you to ‘deposit’ your Coin Hours by sending them from your desktop or mobile wallet to a new address in your Coin Hour Bank account. From there, you can send them to another user without cost. You can also view your balance, see your transaction history and initiate out-of-Bank withdrawals. This is an important milestone in the development of the Skycoin parallel currency.
